Peace marches, wishing a do over.
March 19, 2005Our kids,
John Paul and Katherine attended a peace march today.
Protesting our presence in Iraq.
Where did I go right ?
My daughter answered a person who objected to their
being there, marching along.
He yelled, “what about 9-11″
And she, She so wisely stated.
“Do you seriously think that the war in Iraq has
anything to do with 9-11 ?”
Where was I at that age ?
Searching for me through substances and bad poetry.
Hiding from a future and a past.
Had I been more socially conscious maybe, just maybe,
there would have been more roads than just the two I saw
to choose to travel.
I’m proud of my outspoken opinionated children.
I’m proud they know that it isn’t just a few that
can make a difference or at least try to.
As a child, when playing games, sometimes,
if those you played with were kind,
they would give you a do over.
I secretly wish for a do over in this regard…
Tag… You’re it.

hahahaha yes… we are all HIGHLY opinionated.
i’ve had quite a few friends say “the reason every body loves you and your family is b/c how outspoken and openly opinionated you guys are”
man that made me feel great.
i’m glad that you taught us to be accepting and i am glad that you allow us to be ourselves… our loud, outspoken, funny selves.
THANKS!
