Reflections and gratitude
June 19, 2005Happy Fathers day to the Fathers of my
on line and in person friends who took
the time to nurture, teach and love
unconditionally these special people
in my life.
Thank you for being there through
the scrapes life inflicts on them.
Thank you for loving their mothers
and in doing so, teaching them how to
be a loving, devoted couple.
For those daddy friends, thank you for
the gentle guidance and acceptance of all
humans you gift to your children.
They do learn what they live.
Thank you for knowing that.
For allowing your children to look up to you
in sheer amazement.
For the Fathers out there who choose
to not see the miracle they were given,
I’m sorry, but there are no words of
gratitude for you today.
For those of you who instead choose a bottle
or a pill in which to view your life through,
you deserve no kind words from me. Or them.
You have no idea what you are missing.
A child needs to look up in wonder to
a father, not in shame. Your child wants
to marvel at what you are able to do, not cringe.
Shame on you for planting a seed you wished
not to sow.
For my own children’s father.
They have nothing to give you because
you made sure they wouldn’t. A card was chosen
by your eldest daughter, even though you forgot her
on her own graduation. It isn’t a heart felt card.
You have proven that cards depicting bodily functions
are more your style. And so it is. No thank you’s.
No light of admiration shines onto your face.
You have made it all, as it is.
I feel nothing but sorrow for you.
You have no idea what you have done.
Earl Thomas…
I wish, I wish…
And yet that wish is futile.
Happy Fathers Day Unknown Earl.
I have to believe that you would have
loved me had we ever met. I must believe I
would have been important to you.
I would have in turn, looked up into your
eyes filled with pride and love.
Your hands would have reached for me
as an old 45 was played.
I would have gently stepped onto your feet as
you led me in a long slow dance.
Skirt billowing as you set me on a spin.
Our heads thrown back, eyes closed,
as we laughed that of fathers and daughters.
Nothing can replace what never was.
But still. I must believe.

Happy Father’s Day Annie, it seems all of us are being reflective today.
I do so love reading your thoughts.
And how sad it is, indeed, that the sins of the fathers are paid for by the children.
Special love to you and yours today.
Oh Annie,
So much disappointment but you are so strong and a role model for your children.
good, sweet, whole.
The mother-father.
I love you,
Lightfeather
your words are so beautiful and you made me tear! I sit and think of the no good father you describe and think of my sperm donor. Then I think of my wonderful step father that has raised me so well. (because we all know that I am a perfect little angel).
I wish you could have met your father Annie. He would have been so proud of you. Just remember you will always have in your heart
I was always told it was “fathers day” for any man who fathered a child…but it was Daddy’s day for those who raised and loved their kids…my papa taught me that…I had a father, my daughter has a father…I found a wonderful man and now my daughter has a daddy
I just want to hug you. So, *hugs*
And I am glad, at least, that your childrens’ father gave you the most important gift–them. I’m even more glad that they have you and Jan to parent them.
Blessed be!
what a beautiful post and so true!
Thanks Annie
Love
Dianna

Aren’t you glad that Father’s Day is only once a year! LOL I am never too fond of the day myself..it reminds me of how much I really need my dad, but how he’ll never change.
I LOVE your new pic on here. I tried to use a downloaded image as my header image, but I could not figure out how to add it in the template….do oyu think that you could share as to how you did it? I’d really like to use the pic! Thanks so much!

Hello, sailor! Dizamn!
I’d like to know how to do that too, please. (The header image, not the…oh, never mind.)
Blessed be!
ok bad news for Rose… your template has a fixed header.
It can not be altered.
Change your template to one that doesn’t have an image in place already and I can help you.
Crackerlilo… You on the other hand can have a sexy sailor on your blog !
Both of you can see your html source code for your template
by clicking view, then source…
Now understand I can not email you the code to put a new logo on your site.
Email will read the html and send it as a picture…
The only way to help you is to
have you give me a temp log in and upload a logo for you.
I would do this free of charge for my blogging friends.
I have several of these sexy sailor girls that I am about to
upload to my flickr account…
pick on, send me the text you would like… and colors and I will whip you one up.
