Picture and dream sharing

February 16, 2006

Picture sharing again…
My Valentines Day gift.
I love it. She's always encouraging me to create.

Jan and I have talked about all the events of the
last few weeks. I am breathing easier.
My sister has returned home, the kids are gone here and there.
I am blissfully alone today. Working on uploading photos to Flickr.
Also, I am adding to my website as well with a area for design.

I have decided to pursue my art more aggressively.
In all it's forms as it applies to me. Maybe someday it
will pay the bills. That would be my dream.
I'll still be looking for work of course.
But this is where I am drawn at this time and I feel
free to do that for a short time. To use this time to become
strong again and take care of my family and home in a way
that I have been too exhausted to do. It all feels right.

I'll be selectively visiting various businesses and plying
my services, handing out flyers and business cards.
Those services include Web Site Design,
Interiors Re-Design, Faux Finishes, Home Organizing
Landscape Design, Pre Real Estate Sale Preparation.

I have reorganized my flickr site to include Sets.
Please visit it for a visual idea of what I can offer clients.
The sets are listed in the Left Side Column.

The following pictures are bigger on Flickr,
but I wanted to put a few here. These are of my recent
living room redo. As well as various art projects in it.

Right side of living room as seen from hall.

This picture coloring is more accurate.
Tan upper walls, Leather below. Oatmeal Trim.

Window Wall, salvaged plant table repainted.

My design, Boat, 1/4 inch plywood and dowels.

"Tin" tiles, thin foam faux tiles mounted on foam core board.

And most important is my upcoming new project.
I am dying for her to get here !!
I'm waiting on her delivery in a week or so.
Imagine this Mannequin covered in colorful abstract
images mounted via the old fashioned art of Decoupage…
no seriously. She will be lovely. I'll share pictures
when finished. I'll have to name her.
She is a full 30 Inches in height.

So wish me luck during these gentle days to become me again.

Enjoy the art !
Oh and commission are welcome !
I'm for sale.

(Jaded… in the flickr area today is a grouping of
lighthouses. Those are yours ! I swear I am sending them.
The small ones are salt and pepper shakers LOL.
Thanks for taking them off my hands.)

  1. beautiful pictures, they definatly show off your remarkable talent :o) If only all of our hobbies, dreams, passions could pay the bills…that would be awesome :o)

  2. I love the tiles!!! I love decorating as well, although I am not as creative as you!!

  3. Two words for you…E-BAY. Ok it’s one word, two syllables. You can work on your art projects and start an eBay business through with to sell the work. I’ve actually been thinking of doing something similar. I love to do crafts and I’m thinking about selling them online. It’s a time issue for me at the moment because I already run a pretty successful business with my music studio, but I’m gonna do it!

Also consider selling your creations at flea markets etc. The business you generate in person will grow as you hand out business cards with a web address or eBay store on them. We have MayFest and OktoberFest celebrations in my township every year and hundreds of tables are set up selling things similar to what you make. There’s one stand dedicated entirely to hand painted light switch/outlet plates. The person also takes orders for color schemes within the available themes. I’m guessing the business does well simply because I’ve seen that booth for about the last 6 or 8 years in a row.

Do you know any real estate agents in the area? Maybe you could align yourself with an area real estate office to provide pre-sale staging.

The room looks so, so beautiful! And anything you send my way will be both appreciated and treasured. Thank you thank you thank you.

It’s hard and it’s definitely frightening to jump feet first into the world of the self-employed. We really scraped by for the first year, but since then, money hasn’t been an issue. I truly believe that if you follow your passion, the money will come. Do what you love, what makes your spirit sing, and God will provide. It might take a bit of struggling, but it will all work out.

  4. oops..damned typos… I mean “through WHICH” to sell, not through WITH.

If there are more typos, kindly pretend they don’t exist. Thanks a mil!

  5. You sound like you are headed in the right direction. It’s great “seeing” you happy. :) Have a great weekend!

  6. What a cute room. I love the colors too. I am such a dufas at decorating and I admire those of you who can!

Your art is great too. I hope you get to selling some of your creations and that all goes well.

Glad to hear your spirits seem to be lifted up! Can’t wait to see what you do with your unnamed woman.

    Have a great weekend Annie.

    Hugs,
    Nancy
