walking fools
July 2, 2008Jan and I have walked many many miles a day since arriving
on Tybee Island. The beach calls to us from three houses down
an alley from it. The cottage is small and full! Five young people
18 or under, two 22 year olds and three female 40 somethings.
Three bedrooms one bath. Yet we are all getting along well.
Hilary is enjoying doing things with the younger crowd now that
we are here. Crabbing, swimming, just playing around this tiny
sea town.
We arrived Tuesday early afternoon and stayed for a few hours
in Savannah. The temps were extreme and we all melted pretty
quickly. Hilary enjoyed seeing the shops and galleries we have
talked about for years. We made sure she got at least a feeling
of it all along with the usual attractions and scenes.
Three hours after arriving, we were crossing the wetlands leading
to Tybee. Since then, except for one meal away from here that
required driving. We have walked everywhere. That meal was at
The crab shack. Just the most perfect wetlands place to eat.
On the water, every table sheltered outside by massive oaks.
A tourist restaurant to be sure, but so charming too.
This morning Jan and I walked the local shops, sat on the pier and
just talked and talked. Working on us, becoming friends again.
Then we waited in a sun baked line for The Breakfast club.
A fantastic local eatery.
The whole gang is going to the belly dancing dinner show.
Jan and I have opted to stay here and eat at a place with
that ocean view we continue to soak in. Hilary is fine with
going along with the crowd and having us stay here.
Off to get dressed for dinner.
Have a great evening yourselves!
Jan continues to post pics daily.
Our internet connection is at the library, but I am also
picking up an unsecure signal here at the cottage off and on.

Glad to hear you are all having a wonderful vacation, you sure deserve it!
The romantic dinners and walks along the beach sound like just what the two of you needed, time to reconnect!
I’ve done some traveling in my time, but never fortunate enough to visit Savannah or Tybee Island. I’ve visited Atlanta 10 plus years ago, the weekend Princess Diana was killed. Someday I hope to return to see more of Georgia!
No big plans here for the 4th, a quick two day trip to Minneapolis for a day at the Mall and a day at a waterpark. Should be a fun time!
Enjoy the rest of your well deserved vacation.
I’ve got Georgia on My Mind now….
Oh, have a BLAST!!!!!
See you make it sound far more picturesque than any internet site. Far more charming and you are there so I will take your outlook on Tybee Island. hehe
It does sound like you are all having a great time, one could not ask for more than that.
I will be off to flickr soon to check out all these photo’s. *winks*
